major Risks to

Reproductive Health & Family Wellbeing

Here in the Fighting Ninth, we believe in empowering individuals and families to make informed decisions about their health and future. This means access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, respectful birthing experiences, and support for all families, regardless of their choices.

So what's the current status in the Ninth?

Eleven counties in SWVA are considered deserts for maternity wards

Eleven counties in the 9th district (almost 50%) lack maternity wards or birthing centers. This lack of crucial care leads to increased maternal mortality & infant mortality. SWVA cannot be continually deprived services every time the government is looking to pinch pennies.

What Does Reproductive Freedom Mean to Us?

We believe in finding common ground and supporting policies that:

  • Promote Responsible Parenting: Providing resources and support for expectant parents and new families.

  • Promote Reproductive Education: Expanding access to information on preventing unplanned pregnancies, as well as reproductive health.

  • Support Adoption: Providing resources and support for families considering adoption.

  • Respect Individual Choices: Recognizing that reproductive health decisions are deeply personal and should be made in consultation with healthcare providers and loved ones, not the government deciding for you.

We are committed to:

  • Supporting Maternal Health: Addressing the challenges of maternal mortality and ensuring access to quality prenatal and postpartum care.

  • Promoting Healthy Families: Investing in programs that support the well-being of children and families.

  • Fostering Open Dialogue: Creating a space for respectful conversations about reproductive health.
