Reproductive Freedom in our District

Reproductive freedom is a critical issue impacting the health, economic security, and overall well-being of women and families in the Ninth District. Access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including contraception, abortion care, and prenatal care, is essential for women to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures. Recent legislative changes and ongoing legal challenges have created barriers to care, disproportionately impacting low-income women, women of color, and those living in rural areas. These restrictions not only limit individual autonomy but also exacerbate existing health disparities and economic inequalities.

These are some critical pillars to why we believe this is so important:

• Access to Quality Healthcare: Ensuring all women have access to preventative care, prenatal care, and postpartum support, no matter what.

• Respectful Birthing Experiences: Supporting families through pregnancy, childbirth, and the early years, with compassionate care and a focus on individual needs.

• Family Planning Options: Providing access to information and resources that allow individuals to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

• Supporting All Families: Recognizing that families come in many forms and providing resources and support for all parents and caregivers.
