With the passage of the HR 1 Bill (You know it as One Big Beautiful Bill, but we call it the Death Bill), Healthcare is at massive risk in multiple counties in the Ninth.

2 rural hospitals in the district are guaranteed to start closing by Jan 01, 2027. The CEO of Ballad Health is directly quoted as saying the bill as passed will "lead to the closure of rural hospitals." This is because of the trillion dollar Medicaid cuts and cuts to its funding sources throughout the United States.

Ballad Health Lee County Community Hospital and Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital are the two that will close if we don't do something about this!

Unless swift action is taken, thousands of Virginians will have to travel hundreds of miles to get critical care. There will be many who can't do that.

My opponent, Morgan Griffith, is the Architect of Medicaid Cuts of the Death Bill.

He was the Vice-Chair on the Health Subcommittee of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. He is the one who voted for the trillion dollar Medicaid cuts, every single time, knowing what it would mean. Let's see how he likes do math (or read another way LIE, to the people of SWVA):

• "The bill does include $50 billion to fund rural hospitals, which some lawmakers say is enough to keep them open. “Will there be some hospitals that are at risk? If they’re having bottom line problems now, it does create some issues and we’re going to have to pay attention to it and figure out ways that we can make things better. That’s why the Senate created a fund,” Rep. Morgan Griffith said."

• "According to KFF, a health news site, Virginia could lose over $6 billion in rural Medicaid spending over the next 10 years."

So if the Death Bill provides 50 Billion to rural hospitals and there are 50 states, on average Virginia can only expect around 1 billion dollars going to rural hospitals here. We were getting 6 billion.

So tell me, if you had your pay cut 83%, would your business be able to stay open? If you lost 5 billion in funding?

This is who Griffith is: a deceitful man who devised death for the American people while trying to sell it as a positive. He targeted rural hospitals, he voted for it multiple times knowing what it would do. He lies about how he is supporting our hospitals.

In fact, he was promoted to Chair simply because he was able to add the language that cuts your Medicaid by a trillion dollars. Notice how he brags about touring many of the hospitals that he just voted to put at risk?

He should be explaining why he cut our healthcare funding by 80%.

Tell them why to the people who use the community hospitals of Franklin and Tazewell counties. Explain to the mothers who are unable get birthing services at LewisGale Hospital in Montgomery, or any pregnancy care at the Sovah Health in Martinsville and Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. Explain to the elderly in the community who will die because they will not get care they need in critical times.
