Protecting your Constitutional Rights

What does

Upholding Human & Constitutional rights

in the 9th District look like?

  • Freedom of Speech & Expression: Protecting the right of every individual to express their views, even when those views are unpopular or challenging, as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

  • Protecting Our Rights, Strengthening Our Communities: Protecting our rights isn't about isolating ourselves; it's about empowering ourselves to contribute to stronger, safer communities and to use firearms responsibly, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

  • Freedom of Religion: Upholding the right of every person to practice their faith freely, or to choose not to practice any faith at all, as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

  • Equal Protection Under the Law: Ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or belief, is treated fairly and equally under the law, as guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment.

  • Due Process & Fair Treatment: Ensuring that everyone has the right to a fair hearing and legal representation when facing accusations or legal challenges.

  • Protecting Vulnerable Populations: Recognizing that some individuals require additional protections to ensure their rights are fully realized.

Beyond the Bill of Rights: Addressing Modern Threats

The bedrock of our nation is the Constitution, our living document that guarantees our fundamental rights and freedoms. However, those rights aren’t self-enforcing. They require constant vigilance and a commitment to defending them against erosion, both from government overreach and from the challenges of a rapidly changing world and corporate abuse. The 21st Century Deal safeguards the very principles that make that fair shot possible, ensuring everyone economic opportunity no matter what.

While the Bill of Rights and our Constitutional rights remain vital, the threats to our freedoms have evolved. We’re seeing increased surveillance and digital privacy violations, limitations on freedom of assembly, and challenges to freedom of the press. Our commitment to protecting your constitutional rights goes beyond simply upholding the existing framework; we mean to proactively address these modern threats. Something very few in Congress even understand, let alone could do.

Your Rights, Our Responsibility:

Protecting your constitutional rights is supposed to be the government’s responsibility, but when your government is barely functioning for most Americans, then it becomes a shared responsibility to ensure the pillars of American democracy hold true.

We believe all humans are created equal and endowed certain unalienable rights: first among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

We must never forget this ideal that built our Republic.

We are committed to empowering citizens with the knowledge and resources they need to understand their rights and advocate for themselves. We will support organizations that provide legal assistance and promote civic engagement.

Your voice matters. Stand with us in defending the Constitution and building a more just and equitable society for all.

Longer-term even still is we would seek a 21st Century Bill of Rights to be amended to the US Constitution that would protect Americans for the 21st Century and beyond, guaranteeing rights with the emerging technologies and changes we all face.
